Nominated Members of the County Assembly of Kisii sued their elected counterparts for what they termed as discrimination on perks and voting rights in the assembly.
The Members of the County assembly who sought the services of the Rarieda Constituency Mp Otiende Amollo for representation in court wanted the court to put it clear as to their position in the assembly when they were being discriminated by those elected through the ballot.
The Rarieda Member of Parliament Senior counsel Otiende Amollo who on Wednesday 23rd appeared in the Kisumu High Court to represent the 15 Nominated Members of the County Assembly stated that women, the youths and the disabled people in the society are entitled to representation through the nominated Members of the County Assembly.
"Had occasion to appear in Ksm H. Court to Represent 15 Nominated MCA’s Of Kisii County in a petition alleging discrimination by their elected counterparts on perks & voting rights," Dr.Otiende Amollo said
The Ombudsman Emeritus said all persons are equal as per the law and condemned the elected counterparts for showing bias which is contrary to the constitution of Kenya.
Dr.Otiende Amollo said on his Twitter handle that the disadvantaged people in the society, the most vulnerable, the Youth, women and the persons with disability (PWDs) have a right for representation in government.
"Women, Youth & Disabled are entitled to Representation thro this “alternative election,” Dr.Otiende Amollo stated.
