An elected Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Governor from Gusii region has re-surfaced days after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i was promoted to coordinate and supervise development projects.
While other high profile leaders from Gusii region congratulated Matiang'i following his promotion, Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi was no where to be seen nor did he send a congratulatory message.
Mr Maangi on Friday accompanied his boss Mr Ongwae to attend a funeral of Ongwae's departed uncle Elder Johnsilas Achoki Nyaberi in Bonyunyu village, Bogichora, Nyamira County.
The Deputy Governo,r while addressing mourners, his tongue did not slip to congratulate Matiang'i but, instead he advised Gusii politicians to maintain unity.
"As leaders representing our people we must embrace unity and preach peace to our people. Retrogressive politics will hinder development in the entire Gusii region," said Maangi.
Maangi who has declared interest to run for Kisii county governorship seat in 2022 challenged electorates to shun politicians engaging in divisive politics.
"There is need for the electorates to keep off politicians indulging in hatred politics. Leaders should lead by example but, not inciting locals to fight or insult each other," he added.
