Former US President Barack Obama will be installed as a Luo .elder by the Luo Council of elders.
Obama is expected in the country on July 16 where he will be held a number of meetings before heading to Siaya.
According to the Secretary-General Adera Osawa, plans are on high gear to fete Obama during his upcoming visit.
Osawa stated that the council has set a committee in Nyang'oma Village Kogelo, Siaya who were deliberating on a befitting gift for Obama.
Among the items that will be handed to Obama, including a spear, a traditional three-legged stool, and a walking stick.
"We are consulting on what to present to our son because he is a respected person all over the world and we must accord him the respect that he deserves," said Osawa.
The Secretary-General was among the elders who met Obama during his 2005 visit as the Illinois Senator. During the visit, Osawa indicates that he presented Obama with a special stick.
Obama will be in the country for one day before heading to South Africa.
