Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has maintained that he will not apologise to Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris over his utterances during Madaraka Day celebrations.
Speaking at a function in City Hall on Monday, Sonko said he has no reason to apologise to Passaris, arguing that the latter is the one who offended him.
“I will not apologise to her (Passaris) since she is the one who provoked me with her utterances. I did not abuse her, I only told her I am not her husband which is true. Why I should apologise for speaking the truth?" Sonko said as quoted by Daily Nation.
The differences between the two Nairobi leaders played out on Saturday when Passaris questioned the governor's spending, and criticized him for not picking her calls.
When Sonko's time to address the gathering came, he told off the legislator stating that Passaris should not expect him to receive her calls every time she calls 'because he is not her husband'.
Sonko’s remarks did not augur well with Passaris who walked out of the event.
