The group led by Pentagon Alliance youth Group President Abdi Nasir Mohammed said the officers who allegedly shot and killed the 65-year-old woman in Rhama village should face the law.

The elderly woman identified as Mama Abdia Omar Adan was shot dead allegedly by police officers in November while at her home.

This is after security officers from Rhamu Police Station are said to have stormed her compound to look for her son who is said to be a criminal.

Speaking to Journalists, Mr Mohammed asked the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to conclude the investigations and ensure the people behind the killing are immediately arrested and taken to court.

“We are demanding justice for Mama Omar and we are asking DPP Noordin Haji to hasten the investigations. We as the youth in Mandera are saddened by the increased extrajudicial killings in northern Kenya, the police ought to protect us,” he added.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority had last month issued a statement saying they had finalised their investigations into the matter and had forwarded the matter to the office of the DPP for legal action.
