The farmers led by Zephaniah Ongoro claimed that they have been incurring losses due to the poor management of Riaguta coffee society.

"We have not been able to earn anything from our coffee despite us taking coffee to the society. The three directors who we were depending on to get our money were sacked under unclear circumstances," said Ongoro.

The farmers who stormed the society offices and locked the doors vowed not to allow any new director to occupy the officers until their money is paid.

"We will only allow operations at the society once we get our two years payment. The new directors who are being rumored to take over from the sacked directors should keep off," said another angry farmer Steve Nyabuto.

Jacinta Mogesa argued that farmers were promised to get their payment on January 10, 2019, so that they can pay school fees for their children but, that has not happened until today.

"I'm going to uproot all the coffee from my farm since I don't see the benefit of being a coffee farmer," she threatened.
