Deputy President William Ruto and opposition chief Raila Odinga have on several occasions attended rallies and graced fundraising events in the region.

Their move to visit the region now raises questions as to whether the region is a political hotbed for the 2022 presidential campaigns.

On Tuesday this week, DP Ruto who has declared interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2022 general elections, hosted a delegation from the region at his Karen home.

Though details of the meeting remain scanty, Garissa Governor Ali Korane too to his Twitter account where he revealed that the meeting was meant to review the progress of the North and North Eastern Development Initiative (NEDI) projects.

"Along with the other @FCDCKenya Governors, I attended a meeting chaired by Deputy President H.E @WilliamsRuto to review progress of the North and North Eastern Development Initiative (NEDI) projects at the DP's Karen office," he tweeted

However, going by the Ruto's recent moves, it could be argued that the DP might be slowly wooing the region's residents ahead of the upcoming polls.

It is just a matter of time before the real significance of the many political visits to the region as far as the 2022 presidential politics is concerned is revealed.
