Yesterday was a heartbreaking evening for England players, coach and fans. They were beaten 2-1 in extra time by Croatia.
England has set their eyes into the Russia World Cup finals, which could have been their second in their world cup history. Unfortunately, they were beaten by Croatia and now everybody is accusing the referee.
Many England fans hated the fact that Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir was the one to officiate their semi-final match against Croatia.
After the match, many fans slammed Cuneyt, claiming that he had been biased and embarrassing with his refereeing skills.
Cuneyt was accused of giving free-kicks whenever a Croatia player went down while ignoring clear fouls on England players.
Annoyed fans have called yesterday’s performance from the referee a “disgrace to sport" and even called for a Fifa investigation over the same.
It should be remembered that this is the same ref who sent Nani off in Manchester United vs Real Madrid game after a high boot on Alvaro Arbeloa in 2013.
England fans felt that Ivan Perisic a contentious equalizer could have been a foul and not a goal as he scored with his boot high.
