Renowned lawyer Assa Nyakundi says he's never been to a police cell and should he be frogmarched to any station, it will be his first ever experience in life.
The 60-year-old criminal lawyer is facing murder charges following the shooting of his son Joseph, even though he insists it was an accident.
Speaking to the Nation at Nairobi Hospital on Wednesday, Mr Nyakundi also said 'he no longer cares what will happen to him', adding that he's already gone through turbulent times.
“I have never been to a police cell, but if they take me to prison it will not be worse than losing my son in the way it happened,” he told the Nation in his first interview since the incident.
The veteran legal mind added: “There is nothing more to lose at this point. I have lost everything."
Last week, a Makadara court ordered that he's surrendered to face murder charges in person but prosecutors agreed that he was still unstable at the Nairobi Hospital.
Autopsy report done by government raised doubts about Nyakundi's accounts of event, with investigations showing his son was shot dead after a struggle from outside the vehicle.
Mr Nyakundi could also face another charge of being in possession of more ammunitions than the required ones at his house with another gun that was probably not licensed.
His son was buried at Lang'ata cemetery a fortnight ago in a ceremony that was widely skipped by his relatives from Gusii. His family at Ikuruma through Rev Nyakundi however believes his version of story.
