According to Citizen Weekly, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is organizing the handshake tour that will see the President visit Machakos, Makueni and, Kitui counties.

The  Citizen Weekly reports that preparations for the tour are on top gear.

The President is expected to be accompanied by opposition leader Raila Odinga in the tour of the Kamba region that has in the previous years voted for the opposition.

The anticipated tour comes a year since the famous handshake between President Kenyatta and Raila.

Since the famous handshake, Kenyatta and Raila have only visited the Nyanza region.

Kalonzo has been quoted saying that he fully supports the handshake and wants it implemented for the benefit of Kenyans.

According to Wiper Party Organizing Secretary Robert Mbui, Uhuru's visit to Ukambani is on the cards.

"We expect his Excellency the President and other leaders to visit Ukambani as we continue to champion for unity," Mbui said.

Mbui, however, did not disclose the exact dates the President will be visiting the region.

On Wednesday, former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama said Wiper fully supports President Kenyatta's push to unite Kenyans.

Muthama who spoke when he was campaigning for Julius Mawathe at Pipeline estate in Nairobi urged Kenyans and leaders to support the unity push.

According to political analyst Peter Ngure, the President's anticipated visit to Ukambani could be a boost to Kalonzo.

He argues that Kalonzo could capitalize on the visit to market his 2022 presidential ambition.

The Wiper leader is among the top politicians who have declared their interests in the 2022 presidential election.
