Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has declared a political war against Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho. Jumwa has blamed Joho for the troubles she is facing in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Speaking on Saturday at Msabaha in Malindi where she addressed journalists after a burial ceremony, Jumwa said she is ready to face Joho head-on, and not the messengers he has allegedly been using against her.
This comes few days after the ODM National Executive Council (NEC) adopted the disciplinary committee report that recommended for the expulsion of Jumwa from the party after having warned her against her newly found friendship with the Deputy President William Ruto.
This has since risen political temperatures in Malindi with some residents taking it on social media to share how they are more than ready for a by-election should there be one.
However, Jumwa has assured residents that she remains to be the Member of Parliament under the ODM party until 2022 where her term will come to an end, and that she is going to fight back those fighting him.
"Hapa Malindi utagonga mwamba my friend, Mimi nitadeal na wewe sitadeal na hawa maumbwa unatuma hapa Malindi, tunaheshimu ODM na tunaheshimu uongozi wa ODM lakini Joho hatukuheshimu, (I will deal with you and not the 'dogs' you send here in Malindi to insult me. I will deal with the master, not the messenger. We respect the ODM party and its leadership but we do not respect you (Joho) because you don’t respect yourself,’’ said the vocal MP.
Her political 'war' declaration against Joho has sparked reactions from Kenyans with some arguing that she is fighting a losing battle.
