A section of Kisii residents have broken silence after High Court cancelled ten tenders worth Sh134,600,000 in Bomachoge Borabu Constituency CDF kitty, Kisii County.
High court Judge Wilfrida Okwany ordered tenders be done a fresh and follow the law.
Peter Nyamote Bomachoge Borabu resident lauded the court's decision saying courts should be on high alert to cancel dubious dealings.
"The money could have been lost to cartels' pockets. I am happy that Justice Okwany ordered the re-tendering be done a fresh. Public funds must be used appropriately," he said.
Mary Ondoro challenged officers responsible for the CDF kitty not to prioritize their stomachs.
"Were it not for the court, we could have witnessed theft of public funds meant for development. We want every officer responsible for public money expenditure to ensure the money is used well," she stated.
According to her, tenders should be distributed equally to all groups.
"Women should also be considered when tenders are being issued. Elected leaders should put women first," she stated.
James Ogweno said residents in the constituency will not sleep to allow the misuse of CDF funds.
