Speaking in Bondo, Siaya County on Saturday, the group led by Belgut MP Nelson Koech claimed that supporters of former Prime Misniter Raila Odinga owe Ruto a political debt.

The 5 MPs who were hosted by area MP Gideon Ochanda urged the region to pay the debt in honour of Ruto's support for Raila in the 2007 elections which he lost anyway.

Koech said that the time has come for the community to demonstrate its willingness to return a hand.

"We've come a long way and you know very well that the DP stood with Raila in 2007 elections. It's therefore in no doubt that you owe us support in the next elections," he was quoted by the Standard.

The leaders were attending the burial of Langata MP Nixon Korir's father in law Joash Nalo in Masamba Village, Yimbo East ward.

On his side, Ochanda urged Kenyans to rally behind Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta's union, after their March 9, 2018 truce.

Ruto was part of the 5-person team that was assembled by Raila in a bid to unseat retired President Mwai Kibaki, dubbed the Pentagon.

However, Raila controversially lost to Kibaki, resulting in the 2017/2018 post election skirmishes.
