Kenya's Harambee Stars will still wait on the decision from FIFA, to know whether they have qualified for next year's continental football action in Cameroon.
Stars did not play over the weekend against Sierra Leon after the South African state was banned by the governing body due to interference by the government in the day-to-day running of the game.
This means that Harambee's qualification hinges squarely on the decision that the governing body will reach.
The team leads Group F with seven points from four matches, having beaten Ghana and Ethiopia at home. Stars also drew with Ethiopia away but lost the opening fixture to Sierra Leon.
Predicting the most likely outcome from the suspension was made even harder after Caf allowed Equatorial Guinea to take part in the Africa Women Cup of Nations, despite the fact that the country is still serving a Fifa ban.
Sierra Leon has so far missed three matches; two against Ghana and one against Harambee Stars, with FKF President Nick Mwendwa saying chances of Sierra Leon being allowed to play again are minimal.
“Sierra Leone have missed three games so far and it is almost impossible that there will be another window to release players,” Mwendwa noted.
Whatever the outcome, Stars look poised to qualify for the games, which will mark an end to their 14-year wait. The last time the team took part in the games was in 2004 under Jacob Mulee.
