Speaking during the burial ceremony of his younger brother Kefa Tuju in Rarieda on Saturday, Tuju said that he has no intention of running for the seat in a bid to replace Siaya Governor Cornel Amoth Rasanga who is set to retire in 2022.

“I want to assure all of you here that Tuju is not intending to be the governor of Siaya. I don’t have such dreams, I will support whoever the people of Siaya elect,” said the Jubilee Party Secretary General as quoted by Citizen Digital.

Tuju’s sentiments come shortly after Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe, urged him to vie for the highest political seat in Siaya County during the 2022 general elections. “Don’t fear Orengo, Orengo is a politician he is not a technocrat. This county needs a manager. Let Orengo vie for presidency. If Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta are not contesting, Siaya can also produce a candidate,” Citizen Digital quoted Murathe.Siaya Senator James Orengo is among a host of political leaders expected to vie for the Siaya gubernatorial seat during the next general elections.Former Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo is also expected to vie again after losing to Rasanga in 2017.
