Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has declared his bid for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the approaching 2022 general elections.
Speaking on Mazungumzo Waziwazi on Radio Jambo, Wednesday evening, the lawmaker expressed hopes in clinching the top post.
He outlined a number of things he will give first priority once in office, among them a transparent and responsible leadership which he said will result in proper service delivery.
He named the litter and garbage menace as one of the menaces he will give special attention, saying that he will collaborate with locals to clean the city.
"Tutaweka mambo wazi na kuleta serikali inayowajibika. Pia tutatoa mrundiko was uchafu kwa msaada wa wananchi (we will install a responsible government and clean the city with the help of locals)," he said.
He added that his office will work with the relevant authorities to assure all Nairobians, and also address the matter of a messy transport sector in the county.
Wanyonyi also promised that he will wipe corruption out at City Hall, the county's seat of power.
"Mambo ya ufisadi tutakomesha kwa sababu imechangia mambo mengi kama ukosefu wa maji. Pia tutaweka usalama (corruption has cost us a lot, including water connection, but we will address the matter. We will also assure our residents of their security)," he added.
However, he did not disclose if he will be seeking the position on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
