The 2022 succession politics continues to play out as top politicians plan to vie for top seats in the upcoming polls.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is among top politicians who have declared an interest to contest for the presidential seat in 2022.

Kalonzo has also said that he is ready to partner with like-minded leaders ahead of 2022. The Wiper leader is, however, facing a rebellion in his home turf as a section of his allies show signs of abandoning him.
On Tuesday, Kalonzo hosted top politicians, clergy and opinion leaders at his Yatta farm where they discussed the region’s unity.
Former Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe was among top politicians who graced the meeting.
Murathe’s presence at the meeting has now opened debate on the possibility of Mt Kenya region backing Kalonzo’s 2022 presidential bid. It will be a big boost for Kalonzo if Mt Kenya supports him.
Mt Kenya has the 'tyranny of numbers' in terms of voters and Kalonzo can be assured of victory in 2022 if he gets the regions’ support.
Kiambu based political analyst Peter Ngure says that Kalonzo is among friendly presidential candidate that can earn Mt Kenya’s support.
“David Murathe’s presence at the meeting in Yatta on Tuesday is a clear political message,” the analyst said in an interview on Wednesday.
Muratahe, a critic of Deputy President William Ruto caused a storm in Jubilee Party when he asked the DP to retire alongside President Kenyatta in 2022.
He has even threatened to go to Supreme Court to block DP Ruto’s presidential bid.
