Deputy President William Ruto's hustler tag has yet again come under scrutiny with a US-based activist now demanding that be drops it.
For years now, Ruto has often associated himself with the poor, often recalling his difficult upbringing that saw him sell chickens for survival.
"When am in Dagoretti, I remember a lot. I used to stay at Ngano. During that time, I used to pay a monthly rent of Sh1,750. Even my landlady used to be a good person. One of this fine days I'll give her a courtesy call," recalled in a past event.
So vicious has been the hustler and dynasty debate that ODM leader Raila Odinga has often dismissed Ruto's assertions, claiming that the tag is wrongly being used.
And Mr Samuel Okemwa, one of the leaders of Abagusii community diaspora Forum, on Monday demystifyed the tag, exposing reasons why he thinks Dr Ruto is a dynasty.
"He is not a member of the hustler nation. In 1992 thro the infamous YK92 they looted this country dry supporting dynasty, 1997 he supported dynasty, 2002 when the real wind of change was sweeping across Kenya to remove the tyrant for 24 years misrule he stuck with the dynasty,
"In 2007 he was with Raila another dynasty, 2013,2017 he was with dynasties. No person is a making and the biggest beneficiary of dynasty as him. Stop these baseless propaganda," said Okemwa.
Mr Okemwa is a chief campaigner of Raila Odinga and has often rallied for the former Prime Minister in Kisii and Nyamira Counties. He is also a chief financier of ODM party. Also, he has hosted Mr Odinga with Abagusii community in the US.
