Maalim says that the President will not have achieved  anything if he does not tackle the issue of electoral injustices and reforms in the county.

In an interview on a local station Monday, Maalim said that unity and reconciliation can only be realized if electoral reforms and justice is achieved first.

He said that electoral injustices are the root cause of tribalism, marginalization and even corruption in the country.

“President Kenyatta should also give much focus on electoral reforms as he lays agenda for his legacy,” he said.

Maalim said that the issues experienced after the 2017 general election will recur in 2022 if there are no reforms.

He said that the current IEBC needs to be fixed before the 2022 general election.

He also asked President Kenyatta to bring on board all leaders in his building bridges initiative.

Maalim noted  that working with a few leaders will hamper his reconciliation agenda.

President Kenyatta is pushing for the country’s unity and reconciliation after the divisive 2017 polls.

On March 9, President Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga agreed to shelve their differences and unite the country.
