The former Chairperson of Maendeleo ya Wanawake Jane Kiano was on Saturday laid to rest.
Led by Deputy Governor Majala Mlagui, citizens of Taita Taveta, took a moment of silence to respectfully recognise her passing in Wundanyi at Danson Mwashako's (Wundanyi MP) thanksgiving prayer event led by former Vice President Dr Kalonzo Musyoka.
She said the women's empowerment movement is forging ever forward, citing few days ago where Sahle-Work Zewde was elected as Ethiopia's first woman president, inspiring countless number of women across the globe immensely, including herself.
"Examples such as Mrs Jane Kiano and Her Excellency Zewde serve to remind us to dream boldly, to step forward with courage despite the fears we may harbour and to believe and trust in God's grace in our lives," Mlagui who is in Wiper, said.
During the event Dr Musyoka, who is the Wiper Democratic Movement Party leader, also took the opportunity to endorse Mlagui for the party's National Youth League leadership position.
"While I am in the early days of my political career, I am deeply humbled by the constant belief and support H.E Dr. Kalonzo Musyoka has displayed," Mlaghui said.
