Speaking at his Karen home when he hosted a number of leaders following the demise of his father Peter Musyoka Mairu, Kalonzo said he is Sonko’s uncle and warned anyone against intimidating him.

He said the two share various things besides being politicians.

Kalonzo recalled how he joined the Nairobi governor in the memorial service of his late father.

“I think he has not been told, but he is also my uncle. He will explain because he knows it better than I do,” Sonko said.

In his response, Kalonzo confirmed Sonko’s words saying: Kenya is a very small country, hii ni kijana yetu.”

Sonko later took to social media to share a video of their visit to Kalonzo’s home and captioned it: “I visited former VP Kalonzo Musyoka at his home in Karen to condole with him after the demise of his father Mzee Peter Musyoka Mairu. May our Lord comfort you and your loved ones.”

A number of leaders from across the country have continued to send their messages of condolence to the former Vice President's family following the loss of his father and mentor.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua are among those who have sent him messages of condolence.
