Anxiety has gripped the county government of Nyamira hours to final determination of the fate of over 1,000 employees who were kicked out of the payroll.
In April, Governor John Nyagarama initiated a process of cleaning the payroll that saw several people kicked out over what the government termed as 'irregular recruitment'.
Public Service Management minister Bernard Osumo, in a letter to Sub County administrators on Friday, directed all employees who responded to show cause letters and interdictions to visit sub county offices for further information.
"A notice is hereby given to all officers who acted in response to show cause letters or interdictions to report to Sub County Administrators for their respective regions on Monday June 17 for information and further directions without fail," read the letter.
Last week, several MCAs stormed Governor John Nyagarama's offices demanding for reinstatement of the affected workers. They claimed that the exercise was done in bad faith.
However, Speaker Moffat Teya defended the move, arguing that MCAs were only interested in having contracts for ECDE teachers renewed.
"The assembly adjourned today’s afternoon sitting purely because of the 503 phase two ECDE teachers whose contract expired end of last month. The MCAs are not only concerned about the 503 teachers and their families but also about the many young learners who will be missing services because the instructors are out of the stations," said Teya.
"The Assembly is an arm of government and we went to consult the Executive arm which is headed by the governor on how we can handle and sort out this issue. Take note that the governor cannot be summoned to the Assembly and MCAs needed him to address them on this matter," he added.
Already, Senator Okong'o Mogeni has warned that the public must have the list of those affected. He threatened to take actions if the affected people are reinstated without due process.
