The DP handed keys of a brand new Mitsubishi  Pajero car to Bishop Anyolo saying the gift was given out to him by the government.

The DP whose alleged overwhelming generosity to the clergy has before attracted criticism, issued the keys at the Uzima University College Grounds in Kisumu where the ceremony was held.

Anyolo, who also doubles up as the chairman of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) has taken over from Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth.

He was appointed in November last year by Pope Francis after Okoth the then bishop retired after serving in the position since May 21, 1990.

ODM Party leader Raila Odinga also attended the colourful event, graced by political leaders across the divide, religious leaders and the Catholic Church faithful from Kisumu and beyond.

Among other leaders who were present were FORD Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula, devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, Defense CS Raychelle Omamo, Kisumu County Governor Anyang Nyong’o, Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wangamati,  Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa, Rarieda MP Paul Otiende Amolo and Homabay Senator Moses Kajwang'.

However, Governor Nyong’o did not attend the event to the end as he was rushed to the Agha Khan Hospital after falling sick.

The last time several political leaders shared a podium in Kisumu was during the launch of the Universal Health Care programme last year.
