Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has of late been quite of his plans to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Although the younger Moi had not publicly declared his presidential bid, his political moves and words in up to late 2018 suggested that he wanted nothing less than the presidential seat.
Senator Moi's presidential bid would definitely cause a major political division in the Rift Valley region where Deputy President William Ruto who is a frontrunner in the coming presidential race hails from.
There have been calls for the two leaders to sit and agree on one candidate. The last time Senator Moi appeared in public was on December 14, 2018, during the 14th graduation at Kabarak University.
Politically, he appeared in public on December 1, last year during his tour to Kakamega county where it was reported that he and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi had agreed to work together in 2022. Nothing much about the union has been revealed since then.
Senator Moi has also remained silent on the ongoing debate about constitutional reforms which most of the politicians eying the presidential seat are defending the opinions that are likely to support their dreams.
Moi’s silence on the current political trends in the country may suggest that he is no longer interested in the presidential seat.
