A middle-aged woman has gone into hiding after she allegedly attacked and injured her husband's secret lover.
The incident happened on Monday at Manga in Nyamira County.
It is alleged that the woman identified as Mary Nyabate stormed into her husband's secret lovers' house armed with a wooden block which she used to attack her.
The secret lover was identified by neighbours as Victoria Nyaboke.
"Nyabate has been complaining about Nyaboke's secret love affair with her husband. Despite the several warnings, Nyaboke has never stopped the illicit love. Nyabate armed with a wooden block beat her and broke her left hand," said a neighbour, Zipporah Magoma.
Magoma said members of the public were attracted by Nyaboke's screams and rushed to the homestead prompting Nyabate to flee to a neighbouring maize farm.
Area chief Fred Obae said the suspect is being hunted.
"Everyone is protected by the law. Nyabate must be arrested to face prosecution over the assault," he said.
The chief reiterated that members of the public should not fight carelessly and warned couples against being unfaithful in marriage.
He also urged men to respect their wives for the sake of building strong marriages.
