Through  Senior Prosecution Counsel Duncan Ondimu, the DPP said his office has not issued any arrest orders against Waititu as reported in a section of media.

The DPP said that his office communicates through official press statements, adding that the public should ignore such speculations.

"We have not issued out any orders for Governor Waititu's arrest or prosecution and we call on the public to ignore speculations from social media idlers," he said.

Last week, there were claims that the DPP had ordered for Waititu's arrest and prosecution over alleged misuse of county money and resources.

On Tuesday, during an interview with journalists at his Kiambu office, Waititu blamed his political enemies for spreading false information about him.

He claimed that his enemies are playing politics and want to taint his name.

This comes as the Council of Governors condemned last week arrest and prosecution of Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong over abuse of office.

The Council alleged a plot by national government investigating and prosecution agencies to humiliate sitting governors.

The COG now wants sitting governors to be granted immunity against arrest and prosecution.
