Speaking during a funeral ceremony in Matungu, Kakamega County on Saturday, he called for calm among his supporters.

He hinted at heading back home to concentrate on other matters, saying that he has always lived with them will return to that.

He added that he will dedicate his time to pushing for the revival of the limping Mumias Sugar which is in the county.

“I had a life before the Cabinet appointment and I lived among you, so you should not be worried,” Echesa was quoted by the Standard.

Echesa attended several funeral services where he insisted that his exit from the government will not stop his bid to see the engines of the sugar miller resume duty.

The former professional boxer added that he will be in the front line to ensure that the region is no longer political figures and their economic counterparts.

"We will not accept to let our people suffer politically and economically. We will continue fighting for our machines in Mumias to start milling again,” he added.

He was accompanied by Mumias East lawmaker Bernard Washiali who termed it wrong for Uhuru to sack Echesa without a reason.
