Even though he has been ill for years now, former West Mugirango MP Henry Obwocha attended a funeral to one of his aunt of Friday, it has emerged.
And it's after the funeral the former Economic Planning Minister collapsed and subsequently rushed to Nairobi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on Saturday morning.
"He was at Igena-itambe and was quite jovial. He even addressed mourners where he called for unity.
"After the funeral, he felt ill and collapsed. Family members rushed him to Nairobi Hospital," said Walter Tisi, a youth leader.
His death caught residents unaware with leaders sending their condolences.
At the funeral, Obwocha supported himself on a walking stick much of the time.
Governor John Nyagarama has hailed Obwocha as a 'fearless leader'.
Former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire attributed multiparty democracy to the former minister who lost his seat to Dr. James Gesami in 2007.
His first ten years in parliament from 1992, he served as Ford Kenya MP before changing allegiance to Ford People during his final term.
