Star striker Meddie Kagere has been accused of betraying his former club Gor Mahia, after moving to Tanzania's Simba last month.
The striker, who was among the fan favorite, pushed for a transfer to the Tanzanian side, and the club has come out to accuse him of betraying their trust and leaving them without proper agreement.
speaking to journalists on Wednesday, the club, through club Treasurer Sally Bollo, the team said Kagere's demands were over the roof and could not be met.
“He came to the meeting, we gave him an offer but Kagere wanted KSh5m. It’s pretty much in your knowledge that when you win the SportPesa Premier League, the prize is KSh4.5m and the wage bill in Gor is KSh5.5m, so we could not actually give him his offer,” said Bollo.
Bollo added "Kagere told us he wants to go to Rwanda to get his new passport and he will come back. He had asked for permission from the technical bench and as an office, we could not deny him a chance to go to Rwanda when his immediate bosses had already agreed to give him time.
“We were expecting Kagere to come back on Tuesday the next week and the next thing is we were surprised (when he showed up in Tanzania) with the same clothes he left our negotiating table with,” Bollo claimed.
Kagere moved to Simba and helped them reach the finals of the Cecafa club tournament, where he registered three goals.
