Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo is among those who moved to social media to commend Museveni saying that President Uhuru Kenyatta should also follow suit.

Museveni accused betting firms of diverting the Ugandan youth's attention from hard work. He held that there shall be no further issuance of licences for gambling and betting firms.

The gambling industry has rapidly grown in Kenya for the last five years, attracting new entrants each year.

Kenyans hold that despite supporting local talents, many are those that have been left poor.

Gambling addiction is on the rise in Kenya and leaving young people bankrupt and suicidal incidences attributed to gambling have also been reported.

On several occasions, Kabogo has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta's government to tame gambling if indeed he means good to the young.

A number of Kenyans have praised Museveni's saying that he has saved generations from gambling menace.
