Chief Justice David Maraga now claims that the legislative arm of government is out to sabotage and disable the Judiciary.
In an exclusive interview with NTV from his Karen home in Nairobi on Sunday, Maraga accused parliamentarians of denying his body funds in a bid to paralyse its operations.
Maraga who recently lamented of under-financing faulted the house for instead being quick to endorse the allocation of funds meant to benefit lawmakers, including constituency funds.
"The parliament is trying to control the judiciary. This is why it is hesitant to allocate us funds but is the first one to push for the allocation of funds meant to benefit lawmakers like the Constituency Development Fund," said Maraga.
He revealed having done almost everything within his reach to request for more funds, before Deputy President William Ruto's promise of the executive's intervention last week.
Maraga warned the parliamentarians against the same, noting that Kenyans will be the ultimate victims of the scheme.
"They should know that it is not me or the judges who will suffer but Kenyans. It is the people who will face hardships when trying to have their cases heard in court," he added.
The judiciary was given only 14.5 billion shillings from the 31.2 it had requested for, with Maraga noting that it only remains with 50 million shillings to fund its development initiatives.
