With just a few months to August 8th election, Machakos former Senator Johnstone Muthama announced he won't defend his seat, a move that shook the Wiper party.

His win was obvious if he vied but the fact that he waited until the last minute to pull out of the race angered not only the party but also his supporters.

When asked why he won't vie again, Muthama announced that he doesn't want to fight the same fight he had with Mutua over and over again.

Recently Muthama went public about his dislike for Wavinya Ndeti's running mate Peter Mathuki.

Muthama said that Mathuki is of the same calibre as Governor Mutua and if he and Wavinya manage to clinch the seat, then Machakos would turn into a looting paradise.

"Mathuki and Mutua are of the same character and that's why I opted out of the senatorial race, I couldn't keep on fighting the same battle over and over. While fighting Mutua, I have spent over 80 million shillings," said Muthama.

Muthama said that he knew if Mutua or Wavinya wins the election, the fight would be the same reason why he didn't campaign for Wavinya.

It's an obvious thing that Muthama preferred former deputy Governor Benard Kiala over Wavinya Ndeti as Wiper candidate but it was not his decision to make.

Due to that, Muthama and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka's relationship has not been a walk in the park.
