Residents of Manga in Kitutu Masaba were left in a rude shock on Monday evening after a middle aged man lured a minor into his house and defiled her.
Locals claimed that the suspect, John Arika tricked the minor to enter in his house when he committed the heinous act.
"The minor was returning home from a playing field when it started raining. She decided to shelter outside the suspect's house when she was lured to enter the house with the suspect who ended up defiling her," said Alloys Bogonko.
Confirming the incident area chief Jeremiah Ogendi said the suspect after the incident tried to escape by angry locals apprehended him.
"The victim revealed what the suspect did to her prompting him to escape. Members of the public chased after him and nabbed him," he said.
Ogendi noted that the suspect received a thorough beating from the public before he rescued him.
He said medical tests done on the minor were positive.
"I surrendered the suspect to Manga police station from where he will be taken to court on Wednesday," said the chief.
