On Sunday, a section of MPs from Central Kenya hinted a possibility of pushing for changes to create a Prime Minister position for Uhuru once he retires.

"Uhuru remains our kingpin. He's too young to retire and of course we shall use the meeting to discuss about his future," said Irungu Kang'ata in reference to Naivasha meeting.

But in the meeting, Uhuru is said to have called and asked them to drop the debate since it was 'unnecessary' to the people of Kenya.

But in an interview with CNN's Richard Quest which was aired on Monday, Uhuru insited that he's disinterested with advanced of clinging to power.

"I'm not interested in serving another term. I will not take up the chance even if everyone wanted me to."

"I am not seeking to change the Constitution to cling unto power," Uhuru said.

Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati recently asked Kenyans to prepare for Uhuru as Prime Minister and Raila Odinga as President in 2022.

Deputy President William Ruto and Raila Odinga are clear favourites to succeed the president even though the latter is yet to declare formally his bid.
