Mutua’s silence is further compounded by the fact that he unsuccessfully contested the Mwingi Central parliamentary seat in the 2017 general election.

The former LSK boss' political whereabouts remain unknown even as the 2022 succession politics take shape.

Could Mutua be planning to make another attempt in politics come 2022?

According to Kiambu-based political analyst, Peter Ngure, Mutua is among a crop of politicians to watch out in 2022.

The analyst argues that chances of the former LSK president contesting for an elective seat in 2022 are high.

“I don’t think he has given up on politics despite losing bid for Mwingi Central seat in 2017,” he said in an interview on Monday.

There is speculation that the former LSK boss could be eyeing to contest the Kitui Senatorial seat in the 2022 polls.

The Kitui Senator's seat is currently held by Enoch Wambua who has hinted on seeking the governor seat in 2022.

Mutua’s possible entry into politics in 2022 could revive his active role as the LSK president.

The former LSK boss was described as fearless and knowledgeable in matters law. He also safeguarded the sanctity of human rights in his tenure as LSK boss.
