A former Member of Parliament from Gusii region has rubbishes a unity meeting on Friday which was attended by elected leaders from the region.
Protus Kebati said the meeting was a waste of time only meant to blackmail members of the public.
"It is shameful for Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama and his Kisii County counterpart James Ongwae to be among the meeting whose agenda won't benefit poor residents. The leaders were elected to serve the people and not hold unnecessary meetings," said Kebati.
The ex-lawmaker claimed that the leaders only met to drink wine and packed water.
"Members of the public should not give their ears to the leaders who met to drink wine which they bought using public money. The leaders must work to eradicate poverty from villages," he stated.
He regretted that the region has not experienced any development because leaders are only interested in earning monthly salaries.
Mr Kebati urged the electorates to be keen and vote out leaders who don't fulfill their campaign promises.
From the meeting, the leaders reportedly discussed issues affecting the community and the region's development and cementing unity of the Gusii community.
