For the past few days, Kenyans have been puzzled with the story of a fraudulent man who has been posing as a female nurse at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret and has also competed in local and international competitions as an athlete.
Abraham Chelang'a, who is his former training mate said the athlete exploited loopholes and weaknesses in Athletics Kenya to participate in athletics competitions both locally and Internationally.
"The federation managing athletics in this country has some big challenges which have allowed athletes to manipulate them easily and participate in competition unfairly," Chelang'a told Nation in Eldoret.
He added that many athletes who have been penalized from participating in athletics change their names or citizenship and enter the competition from the back door again.
"The Federation has remained silent on athletes whom after got doping, they change both their names and nationalities, " said irked Chelang'a.
It has been revealed that the athlete has participated in various International competitions as a female by the name Shirley Chepkosgei and has won three medals. According to the investigations, he is a man by the name Hillary Rotich.
He was on Monday charged in Eldoret court is remanded in Eldoret prison awaiting further investigations. His case will be mentioned on 27 June.
