Residents of Bonyaoro in Bomorenda, Bonchari in Kisii County are mourning the death of a 59-year-old man who was found dead in his bed on Saturday morning.
Confirming the incident area chief Jared Okendu said the deceased John Ogembo Ateya has been living alone after his wife abandoned him due to poverty.
"Ateya's wife returned to her parents' home on grounds that Ateya was poor and could not meet her needs despite her accepting that he was good in bed. Ateya since then has been living alone because he refused to remarry again," said the chief.
Mr Okendu said a neighbour who went to check on him at 7 am on Saturday found him dead in his bed.
"His body was lying in bed dead. An alarm was raised to attract members of the public. A probe has commenced to establish what might have caused his death," he noted.
The administrator argued that the deceased has been having a good record in the village.
"The body of the deceased was moved to Nyangena hospital morgue waiting for burial," stated the chief.
