Davis Omweno will be the man in charge when Nigeria’s Super Eagles take on Seychelles in an AFCON qualifying match this weekend.
Omweno was given the honours by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), in a fixture that is scheduled for Saturday, September 8.
Omweno will be assisted by Kenyan compatriot Gilbert Cheruiyot, who will be the first assistant referee, while Uganda’s Mark Ssonko will be the second assistant.
Nigeria is at the foot of Group E of the qualifiers after falling 0 - 2 to South Africa in the opening game in June 2017, with Libya and South Africa as joint leaders in the group.
Libya won against Seychelles in their opening fixture 14 months ago. This will be a must-win match for the Super Eagles if they are to make it to Cameroon for next year’s tournament.
Among missing men from the Nigeria squad include Captain Obi Mikel, who is out injured, while Chelsea winger Victor Moses opted to retire.
The 2019 African Cup of Nations is scheduled for January 12 to February 3 in Cameroon.
