Let us for a moment forget about the murder case trailing Jacque Maribes' boyfriend Joseph Irungu alias Jowie and instead shine the spotlight on his relationship with the TV queen.
The two lovebirds have been dating for around nine months now. They met in January, Irungu proposed to her in April and as things stand, they should or will soon break up.
What is so conspicuous in their relationship is the fact that Maribe was throughout the entire period of the relationship, housing and providing for Irungu.
It is obvious that Irungu is hot and handsome and most ladies would do anything to keep him.
Well, at Moi University, we have a breed of men with the 'Joseph Irungu' syndrome. The super attractive comrades whom ladies will do anything to have a piece of. These are the men who dress to kill, but 80 per cent of the clothes in their closets were given to them as gifts by ladies.
A good number of this type of men do not have anything in their bank accounts. So it is always their girlfriends who will be footing the bills whenever they go on a date.
The 'Joseph Irungu' of Moi University will always move out of the hostel (mostly Soweto area) and move in with the lady at her rental house.
At this point, all that the lady wants is to have a super hot boyfriend. She, therefore, goes out of her way to keep the guy. The guy, on the other hand, is busy hitting on other ladies silently, just the way Irungu is alleged to have been hitting on Monica.
Second-year student Magdalene Nekesa once dated such type of a guy.
"It happened when I was a fresher. At that time I was a fool in love. The guy was in the third year and he was crazily handsome. He had all that a lady can ever want in a man. But he was broke. So I used to provide for him. He even moved in with me. I really loved him until one day I discovered he was hitting on my friends too," Nekesa narrated.
Men like Irungu will always exist in our society and especially universities where relationships are the unwritten core course. One thing is however for sure, these men will never have a successful relationship unless they man up and become responsible.
