Nakuru Town MP David Gikaria on Mondy suffered 'public shaming' after he was arrested by Nakuru DCI officers over a fraud case.
Photos of the MP's booking were posted on social media.
Gikaria was accused of conspiring to defraud contrary to section 317 of the penal code.
After being arrested and grilled, the legislator was arraigned before a Nakuru court and released with a cash bail of Sh1 million.
The MPs photos were posted on social media despite a court order by the high court which barred police from posting suspects' photos.
"A conservatory order is hereby issued restraining the Inspector-General of Police and the Director of Criminal Investigations from posting suspects and accused persons booking photographs on the internet pending the determination of this case," the court said.
Henry Namiti Shitanda, the petitioner in the case, said posting booking photos on the internet is humiliating and embarrassing to suspects or accused persons.
