A Kenya Forest Service (KFS) officer has landed in trouble after he reportedly threatened the life of Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos.
The ranger who is reported to have been drunk during the Tuesday incident, threatened to shoot the governor, resulting to his arrest and interrogation at a local police station on Friday.
The incident occurred at Takwei Primary School in Cherangany/Chebororwa ward, reports the People's Daily.
Confirming the arrest, area County Commissioner Ahmed Omar said that the KFS officer will be arraigned in a court in Iten upon the completion of investigations.
The incident happened while the governor was in inspecting projects in the area, something that seems to have angered the ranger.
Dressed in civilian clothing at the time, the ranger retreated to his house to get his jungle jacket and gun before going after the governor.
He warned the county boss and his team against going anywhere near the school which he said lies within the forest zone, a place he is deployed to protect.
He was, however, spotted and disarmed by his colleagues before any harm was done and is now set to explain his actions before a court of law.
