There was drama during a public baraza in Kisii after a chief was humiliated by a woman he is reported to have impregnated.
The incident occurred on Sunday at Nyamarambe village, South Mugirango in Kisii County.
Veronica Moraa told a public gathering that the area assistant chief, Francis Nyakongo, impregnated her and later dumped her.
“I have been in a romantic relationship with Nyakongo and he promised to marry me as his second wife but when he impregnated me in February, he cut off communication all with me and warned me against going near him,” she said.
Moraa said the local administrator should take care of her and her unborn baby because he is the one who impregnated her.
“All I want is the chief to take care of me and my child who is yet to be born. He should not run away from his responsibilities since he promised to make me his second wife. Members of the public should help me get the necessary support from the chief during my pregnancy,” she said.
Moraa said she is six months pregnant.
The chief, however, refused to comment on the matter, noting that he would address the baraza at a later date.
“This was not the topic for the day. I will give my comments on the matter later,” he said.
According to the chief, the baraza was held to discuss security issues in the village and not offer a platform for Moraa to tell residents that he impregnated her.
