The anticipated appointment, scheduled in 'few weeks time', is a culmination of boardroom meetings and high octane politics in the Rift Valley, where DP William Ruto has been struggling to stamp authority due to emergence of Gideon Moi.

For the better part of Saturday, Mr Isaac Ruto was coordinating venue at AGC Siongiroi where the DP landed on Sunday ahead of fundraiser and subsequent meeting with local leaders.

"He is cutting short his coastal trip and will be in Bomet on Sunday. The main purpose of the trip is to formally receive Isaac Ruto to his camp.

"Already Isaac is set for an appointment to cabinet. The DP has successfully lobbied for him. It's all about strategy. The appointment will come in few weeks time during reshuffle," said DP Ruto's aide, who spoke in confidence.

Besides an appointment to cabinet, Isaac Ruto is expected to take charge of DP Ruto's Rift Valley campaigns to block 'encroachment' by emerging politicians in the region.

The latest development of events, the aide added, is a relief to the DP since Isaac would help him take emerging rebellion in the vast Rift Valley region.

"It's a good catch and as team Ruto we are excited. Isaac is an experienced leader and will help contain the likes of Gideon Moi and Alfred Keter. I keep telling you that it's about strategy."

Also, Ruto has reportedly relinquished his CCM party to DP for revamping and could be used as an alternative should Jubilee mandarins sabotage his quest for State House in 2022.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has shown signs of reshuffling his cabinet and has often scolded some ministers for incompetence.
