On Tuesday, Prof Evans Basweti, the Kisii University Deputy Vice Chancellor, while addressing members of the press in Kisii town, opposed Magoha's move to scrap other courses.

Basweti said Magoha should not bring dictatorship to the education sector.

"Magoha's move to stop students from studying in some courses is uncalled for. Let him know that the education ministry is not Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) where he could cancel exams the way he liked," he said.

Prof Basweti challenged Magoha to engage all education stakeholders because declaring other courses illegal.

He said other Kenyans who have already graduated after successfully completing the courses which Magoha is now declaring illegal may not have a job market.

"Magoha was appointed the Education Cabinet Secretary to bring reforms but, not declaring courses illegal. It is high time Magoha should involve all stakeholders in the education sector to bring sanity," he added.

Basweti challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure he picks people with relevant knowledge in every docket they will serve.
