Last year after treatment of brain tumour in South Africa, Ms Odinga, a firebrand politician, quit Kibra constituency race despite having garnered momentum.

And last weekend in Siaya, Rosemary is said to have made her condition public while addressing mourner.

"We were all shocked to hear that she's blind. She was in sunglasses and under the aide of some people," said JOOUST Secretary General Tony Amecha.

He added: "She told me that nowdays she operates from the coast. But more importantly, she's focused to change lives of less fortunate through Agribusinesses."

With the tragedy hitting after the death of her brother Fidel Castro, another political operative who ran the father's empire, the former Prime Minister will now have to groom two of his remaining children for political office.

Already, Raila has been traveling with his youngest daughter Winnie Odinga, who was reportedly appointed as his personal secretary in the AU.

Winnie, who also accompanied Mr Odinga to a meeting with Barack Obama in July, could be likely to be in Raila's mind for continuity of Odinga dominance.

"I can assure you that she is personal secretary. That is why she sat behind the father in AU session on Saturday," an aide said in reference to Saturday's trip to Addis Ababa.

There other son, Raila Jr, is less interested in politics and rarely accompanies the father to high profile engagements.
