Sleuths from the office of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday arrested activist Boniface Mwangi.

The activist, who has been vocal on matters of national interest, claims he was handcuffed under unclear circumstances. 

He later took to social media to question his arrest and pleaded for justice.

He revealed that he was heading to the Central Police Station to record a statement.

"I have been arrested by @DCI_Kenya from my house. We are headed to Central Police Station. I haven't been told the reason for my arrest." he revealed through his Twitter account.

 The arrest has already started to elicit mixed reactions from different quarters.

 Mwangi has been one of the vocal fierce critics of the Jubilee regime
