The Kenya Ferry Services (KFS), announced that the ferry had indeed been withdrawn from the channel leaving only three ferries; MV Harambee, MV Likoni and MV Kilindini to carry and cross commuters and motorists from the Mombasa island to South Coast and vice versa.

"We sincerely apologize to our ferry users for the delays experienced due to the breakdown of Jambo ferry early this morning. We have three ferries in operations," KFS communications team said on social media.

At least 320,000 commuters and 6,000 motorists use the Likoni Ferry crossing daily.

"We are working round the clock to have the fourth ferry in operations. Kindly bear with us and thanks for your patience," KFS added.
