This, ironically, came at a time when most Nyanza leaders were at opposition leader Raila Odinga's home in Bondo, where he hosted a delegation of Kikuyu leaders.

During the fundraiser at Sirembe Secondary School on Saturday, Midiwo hailed Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi over his full involvement in the anti-graft war.

Midiwo who doubles up as Raila's cousin went ahead to ignore Raila's campaigns against corruption, hailing Mudavadi as the only man fully and genuinely fighting graft.

He also hit out at local leaders, most of whom are allies of Raila and members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, terming them corrupt.

“Most of these local leaders are unable to speak in public gatherings because residents heckle them because of corruption,” he was quoted by the Standard.

The former National Assembly Minority Whip has not been in good terms with Raila since his loss in the Gem Ornage Democratic Movement (ODM) primaries ahead of the 2017 elections.

He lost the ticket to Elisha Odhiambo, before again losing out as an independent candidate in the main elections on August 8, 2017.

In retaliation, he briefly exited the party before rejoining shortly after.
