Kanze Dena will now officially assume the roles of Presidential Strategic Communication Unit, President Uhuru Kenyatta has confirmed.
Ms. Dena, a former anchor with Citizen TV, has been executing the same roles but in an acting capacity following appointment of Manoah Esipisu as an envoy.
Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita confirmed the president's latest appointment as he seeks to reorganise his communication unit.
"His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta has confirmed Ms Kellen Kanze Dena to the position of State House Spokesperson and Head of the President's Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU).
"Ms Dena, who has been acting in the same position for the last 3 months, takes over from Mr Manoah Esipisu who was appointed Kenya's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom in July this year.
"We wish Ms. Dena success in her new role and ask all stakeholders including PSCU staff, the media and colleagues in Government to accord her the support she needs to excel," read Nzioka's message.
Ms. Dena's initial appointment as Esipisu's deputy thrilled the nation with social media users hailing the president's trust on women leadership.
Her appointment came almost at the same time Kenya got first female Major General, Ms. Fatuma Ahmed, who is now Assistant Chief of Defense Forces in charge of operations.
The former Citizen TV anchor will now formally make communications on behalf of the president and she has been accompanying Uhuru out of the country lately.
